CHAPTER IV. BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTIONCHAPTER IV. BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTION\ARTICLE 7. NUMBERING OF BUILDINGS

All houses and buildings fronting on public streets and avenues of the city shall be numbered and designated as follows:

(a)   Even numbers shall be assigned to all buildings on the north and west sides of streets or avenues, and odd numbers shall be assigned to all buildings on the south and east sides of streets or avenues. A number shall be allowed for each 25 feet of frontage.

(b)   Avenues running east and west shall be numbered from Starr Avenue, beginning with number 10 on the north side and number 11 on the south side for the first 25 feet frontage, increasing regularly to the first intersection, and increasing by 100 for each block thereafter, whether progressing to the west or to the east.

(c)   Streets running north and south, and Starr Avenue, shall be numbered from Railroad-Duckworth Avenue, beginning with number 100 on the west side and number 101 on the east side for the first 25 feet frontage, increasing regularly to the first intersection and increasing by 100 for each block thereafter, whether progressing to the north or to the south.

Wherever any street crosses another street, the name of each street in plain large letters shall be posted close to one of the comers in a conspicuous place at a height which may be readily seen, with printed or painted street signs placed on posts located just inside the curb line at one of the corners the surfaces with names upon them to be at right angles and point so as to indicate the street they name.

It shall be the duty of the owners or agents of any building within the limits of the city to put up and keep upon the front of their buildings a number corresponding with the number shown upon the plat to be kept in file in the office of the city clerk, sufficiently large and plain to be easily read from the opposite side of the street upon which the house is situated.

The city clerk is hereby authorized to establish upon proper application by property owners such exceptions as may be necessary by reason of any irregularities which may occur. The city clerk shall prepare or procure and keeping the city office a plat showing the number that each 25 feet of frontage is entitled to, and upon request by the owner or agent for any building inform him or her of the number such building has been assigned.
